We are grateful for the interim pastoral leadership of The Rev. Mia Dyson

Pastor Mia was born in Princeton, NJ. She was baptized at the age of 13 at the Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton. After earning a BA in international relations from Tufts University, Mia joined the Peace Corps. She served in Cameroun, West Africa, working for the office for Community Development. Although her children still find it hard to believe, Mia traveled through virgin rain forest on a Yamaha DT-125 dirt bike to visit remote villages where she was engaged in community development projects. While in Cameroun, Mia was blessed to meet Archie and Hulduh Fletcher. Archie, a thoracic surgeon, and Hulduh, a registered nurse, had served as PC (USA) missionaries for 27 years in India. Archie and Hulduh had been called out of retirement to assist in transitioning a former mission hospital to local administration in Ebolowa, Cameroun where they and Mia were both stationed. The brave and loving witness of the Fletchers helped Mia to discern her own call to ministry. First though, Mia trained as a nurse, receiving her BSN from Columbia University and taking her first nursing job on the labor & delivery unit at St. Luke's Hospital in New York City. In 1998, Mia received her M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. She was ordained on November 1, 1998 at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Fellowship in Kennebunk, Maine. Throughout her career, Mia has balanced her bi-vocations, serving congregations/working as a chaplain, and working as a registered nurse. Mia served as the pastor of Wales Presbyterian Church in Wales, Maine, and is working as an RN on the labor & delivery unit at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. Mia has four children, Bryn age 26, Tess age 22, Liam age 20 and Aidan age 16. She lives in Freeport, Maine.
